12 db low pass lep filter

Simple 12 db low pass filter.

This filter use 2 BC547 NPN transistor and a stereo 100k pot

for the cutoff, instead of the pot. it's possible to use 2 photo resistor.

This filter can operate from 5 to 12 volt for simple application.

I've develop it with Peppo at LEP lab. in Milano.

I use it in this 6 bit noise generator, video.

Lumanoise

Lumanoise it’s a drone synth I’ve develop for Otolab’s performance Megatsunami.

I’ts one square wave oscillator and one 12 bit sawtooth wave oscillator,

the pitch it’s controlled by 2 indipendent photo resistors and a 2 ch mixer.

Using different light on stage it’s possible to create nice synestetic effect.

Photo Noise (2011) is an installation based on Lumanoise, a synthesizer developed by Tonylight as a tool for audiovisual performances.
Lumanoise converts lights into sounds through photo resistors and wave oscillators: thus, using different kinds of light and modulating their intensity and frequency, it's possible to generate a synesthetic experience in which sound and light flow together, redesigning the space around us.
In the installation, the disturbing flickering of two strobe lights generates a permanent noise, slightly altered by the shadows cast by the audience walking around through the installation.
More than an interactive installation, Photo Noise can thus be described as a living body, an immaterial entity responding to the environment and its inhabitants.
Allowing us to see cables, circuitry and machinery, the installation displays Tonylight's interest in DIY practices and their dirty aesthetics, and brings together the two paths of the artist's research:
music performance and light design.

Photo Noise è un'installazione basata su Lumanoise, un sintetizzatore sviluppato da Tonylight, come strumento per performance audiovisive.

Lumanoise converte la luce in suono servendosi di fotoresistenze e oscillatori: colpendolo con diversi tipi di luce e modulando la loro intensità e frequenza, è possibile generare una esperienza sinestetica il cui luce e suono scorrono all'unisono, ridisegnando lo spazio attorno a noi.
Nell'installazione, il fastidioso lampeggiare di due luci stroboscopiche genera un noise permanente, alterato dalle ombre proiettate dagli spettatori che si muovono al suo interno.
Più che un'installazione interattiva, Photo Noise è quindi un corpo vivente, un'entità immateriale che risponde all'ambiente e ai suoi abitanti.
Lasciando cavi, circuiti e macchine a vista, l'installazione rivela l'interesse di Tonylight per le pratiche fai-da-te e la loro estetica "sporca", e riunisce i due aspetti della ricerca dell'artista: la
performance musicale e il light design.

The LepLoop

I've used a lot of synths over the years but this one is something different… it's a strange instrument. It's small, much smaller than it appears in photos: it is part synth, part drum machine, part multi-track sequencer. I'm still figuring it all out but initial impressions are that it's very unpredictable and slightly unstable… but in a good way. I had a few issues with it sometimes refusing to work and also it has a tendency to pick up stray signals from my iPhone and iPad if they are anywhere near it. But when it works it is quite rewarding to use and is capable of some amazing sounds - if mildly frustrating trying get it to do what I think it 'should' be able to do - but I will persevere. If you like wonderful experimental noises - accompanied by a simple rhythm (although I'm sure it's very capable of a lot more) then this little unit could be for you.
The LepLoop will definitely become part of my CCCL experimental arsenal and will most likely get seconded into the upcoming Throbbing Gristle experimental sets in October/November 2010.
The short sound example here was performed without a keyboard, just using the internal sequencer and some real-time tweakery. The outputs were processed with a couple of Eventide pedals for some 'tape delay' & reverb.

UPDATE:
Apparently my LepLoop is a prototype, which accounts some of the 'issues' I had with it - the production version should run fine.

This is a simple low pass filter, using 2 standard npn transistor.
This filter can works also at 5 volt and it's good for microporecessor based project.
The filter can self oscillate and it's a proget I've made with Peppo at L.E.P. laboratory in Milano.
Let me know if you made some modification.

Popular Electronics Laboratory = P.E.L.

The workshop was held by the Popular Electronics Laboratory (PEL), consisting dall'eclettico artist milanese Tonylight and analog dall'alchimista Peppo Lasagna, with the participation of Dorkbot Milano.
The purpose of the laboratory is to design and build electronic devices for audio / video interfaces to develop open source to create sounds and images, video, lights.

For this event, L.E.P. presents his latest projects: "Leploop, a small analog synth to produce music and" Videomoog ", a synth to produce video images by following the synthesis of music.

LepLoop It's a small synth protype I'm developping with my friend Peppo.
The idea was to have a compact live analog instrument.
