Lumanoise_LDR Synths_
After some prototype and live test we decide to realize the pcb and made a small production for workshop and selling, these are pre-production prototypes.
The lumanoise family are 3 models.
Lumanoise V1
The lumanise V1 have one square osc, one 12bit sawtooth osc.
The oscillators pitch is controlled by a photo resistor, each oscillator have a volume pot.
A 12 db low pass resonant filter, specially developed by LEP for the project lumanoise, the filter cut-off can be controlled by the potentiometer or the photoresistor.
Lumanoise V2
The lumanoise V2 heve one square osc, one 12bit sawtooth osc. and 2 trautonium like sub oscillator.
We were inspired by the great Oskar Sala Trautonium synth oscillator.
We use one master oscillator under LDR control and 2 sub oscillator, where you can set the frequency.
The oscillators pitch is controlled by a photo resistor, each oscillator have a volume pot.
A 12 db low pass resonant filter, the filter cut-off can be controlled by the potentiometer or the photoresistor.
808 cymbal drone generator
The 808 cymbal drone generator use 6 fixed frequency square wave oscillators.
The oscillator frequency came from the cluster oscillator circuit used in the TR808 drum machine for creating cymbal sound, in fact these are the harmonic frequencies of the sounds of metal plate.
Each oscillators have a volume pot. and the 12 db low pass resonant filter, the filter cut-off can be controlled by the potentiometer or the photoresistor.
The Lumanoise box are made of plywood 3mm laser cut, different textures will be available soon.
Recently Chris and Cosey was in Milano for a Carter Tutti show so I gave him a 808 cymbal drone generator :)

Lumanoise
It's one square wave oscillator and one 12 bit sawtooth wave oscillator.
The pitch it’s controlled by 2 indipendent photo resistors and a 2 ch mixer.

KiNK in the lab with Leploop and Memory Man
Kink from Budapest, made this great video of a live jam with the leploop, this is the way we love to see the leploop in action.
Kink use the leploop for a release under Rush Hour Records, Amsterdam.

808 CY DRONE GENERATOR
I use the 808 CY cluster osc source for made a drone generator.
The 6 oscillators output have a separate volume.
I use faders from an old mixer.
The 12db LP filter with a switch for select cutoff POT \ LDR.
Made fot Otolab, performance Megatsunami.

12 db low pass lep filter
Simple 12 db low pass filter.
This filter use 2 BC547 NPN transistor and a stereo 100k pot
for the cutoff, instead of the pot. it's possible to use 2 photo resistor.
This filter is calibrated for 5v use but also 9\12 volt for simple application.
I've develop it with Peppo at LEP lab. in Milano.
I use it in this 6 bit noise generator, video.
Val Pastel made this filter audio test listen
A small revision for the 12 db filter, this schematics is calibrated for 12 volt use.
Here you can found an eurorack version made by Danny of TAT on Etsy
Here an High Pass version of the same filter.

PhotoNoise_Tonylight installation

Photo Noise
text by Domenico Quaranta
Photo Noise (2011) is an installation based on Lumanoise, a synthesizer developed by Tonylight as a tool for audiovisual performances.
Lumanoise converts lights into sounds through photo resistors and wave oscillators: thus, using different kinds of light and modulating their intensity and frequency, it's possible to generate a synesthetic experience in which sound and light flow together, redesigning the space around us.
In the installation, the disturbing flickering of two strobe lights generates a permanent noise, slightly altered by the shadows cast by the audience walking around through the installation.
More than an interactive installation, Photo Noise can thus be described as a living body, an immaterial entity responding to the environment and its inhabitants.
Allowing us to see cables, circuitry and machinery, the installation displays Tonylight's interest in DIY practices and their dirty aesthetics, and brings together the two paths of the artist's research:
music performance and light design.

Allowing us to see cables, circuitry and machinery, the installation displays Tonylight's interest in DIY practices and their dirty aesthetics, and brings together the two paths of the artist's research:
music performance and light design.

LepLopp article on Wired Italia
“ Hai presente i sintetizzatori analogici degli anni ’70? Ecco, il nostro Leploop è così: piccolo, compatto, produce contemporaneamente più suoni. Lo assembliamo in un laboratorio di Milano, in due, e poi lo vendiamo online. Ci manca giusto il Giappone, poi l’avremo consegnato in tutto il mondo”.
